At the Berlin workshop at the beginning of December we tackled the topic of cooking with food surplus the European way. Together with the initiative RESTLOS GLÜCKLICH, we explored the similarities between cooking with food surplus and what it has to do with Europe. The result:
Cooking with food surplus, the chef needs to be very creative. Usually there are some really nice products and others, that looking at it on the first sight, do not seem as if they suit the meal you planned. But if you alter your initial recipe just a little , if take another look at the product again and give it another thought, you might find out that you can make something pretty good out of it.
And isn't it the same with Europe? We have lots of countries, policy fields, rules and laws, dos and don'ts and it often doesn't seem to fit together. But if we change our initial plan just a little bit and if we look at some components again we might find out, that altogether, they give a pretty good mix. Of course, some salt and spices never do harm and sometimes we are sick of eating the left-over potatoes again and again, but we all know, life isn't always a bowl of cherries!
